Kick Push video and more
Lupe finally makes a video for his breakthrough song (excluding the joints he did with Kanye and Mike Shinoda, of course). It’s cool, but I kind of wish they’d gone for an old school skate video type of feel ala Beastie Boys videos from the Paul’s Boutique/Check Your Head era. Or even another favourite of mine, Mos Def’s Ghetto Rock video. But maybe that’s just me.
On a related note, Weeklydrop has podcast interviews with both Lupe and Bobby Hundreds, among others.

While trawling the internet for scraps that might be of use to me for the exams I came across this.
George Eliot, Silas Marner
1. The Savagery of Subjectivity and the Homosexual in George Eliot’s Silas Marner
2. Homoerotics and Literacies in Silas Marner: George Eliot Supplementing Native Literacies
3. Silencing Echolalia: Essentialist Periphery in George Eliot’s Silas Marner
4. Figuring the Outraged Penetration in George Eliot: Silas Marner and Violence
5. The Homosexual Nationalizing The Proletariat: George Eliot, Silas Marner and Illness
Surely one of this provocative subjects will tip the scales in my favour for the exams. Try it out for yourself.

Things I am fiending for…
Maxtian T600
I promised myself I wouldn’t get any sort of MP3/ portable media player until 1) I had a regular job and 2) solid state memory become the industry standard for 10GB+ players but I saw this being advertised and it’s awfully tempting. Aside from not having a radio (which really doesn’t bother me) it easily rivals Farhan’s beloved Cowon A2 and apparently retails for something like $100 less.
Vans Syndicate Ballistic Sk8-His
This is that sick shit. “Bulletproof rubberized synthetic”? “High-grade ballistic nylon”? Try and beat that. Please get me a pair.

Some things I’ve read lately…
Up With Grups - The Ascendant Breed of Grown-Ups Who Are Redefining Adulthood — New York Magazine
Interesting article that really hits close to home.
On Being Malay…and becoming racist
I am really quite enjoying Ballsy. You should too.
Why I am still a feminist
I’d probably say that Popaghandi is post for post probably my favourite “local blogger”. I think to some degree I also admire the fact that she’s a traveller and not a tourist, something a lifetime of travelling with my parents has failed to inculcate in me, which is why I realise I have to set out on my own to see the world. Despite the fact that as a child I would say I was pampered or sheltered (I’d say I still am) twenty three years has taught me that I at least don’t have my mother’s level of paranoia and a much higher tolerance level for the “ick” factor.
